Hi Dr. Mandal,
Yesterday we officially announced the start of the Heat Mapping Project which will take place in Jacksonville this summer. This project will reveal the hottest and coolest places in Duval County and allow the city to develop policies and projects that can lower heat risk, safeguarding public health especially for the most vulnerable citizens. This project is a big deal and the data it produces will be used to inform the city's overall climate resilience strategy.
To make the project a success we need EWU's help! We are looking for volunteers to drive pre-planned routes throughout the city to collect temperature and humidity data. It would be great if you could send an email to as many EWU students as possible and ask if anyone is interested in signing up. To do so, they can go to our website where much more information is available.
If you have any additional questions please let me know.
Thanks in advance for your help!
